In short: Carnatic Music Tools collects no personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no trackers. Your microphone audio is analysed on your own device to detect pitch and is never recorded, stored, or sent anywhere.
Overview
Carnatic Music Tools ("we", "our", or "the app") is published by LIDAVI Technologies Private Limited. This policy explains what information the app handles, why, and what leaves your device — which, in this app, is nothing.
It covers the iOS app, the Android app, and the accompanying website. By using the app you agree to the practices described here.
Information We Collect
Information we do NOT collect
Carnatic Music Tools does not collect, store, or transmit:
- Your name, email address, or any account credentials
- Recordings of your voice or instrument
- Your location
- Your photos, camera, or contacts
- Advertising identifiers
- Usage analytics or crash reports
No account or login is required, and the app makes no network requests in the course of normal use. It works fully offline.
Microphone
The Tuner and the Raga Trainer need your microphone to detect the pitch of your voice or instrument. Audio is analysed in real time on your device and discarded immediately — it is never written to storage, never uploaded, and never shared. Nothing leaves your device.
Permission is requested only when you start the Tuner or the Raga Trainer, and you can revoke it at any time in your device settings. The rest of the app, including the Metronome, works without it.
Settings stored on your device
Your preferences are saved locally so the app opens the way you left it: the Sa reference pitch, tempo, tala, jati and gati, selected raga and exercise, click volume, and the tab you last used. This stays in local app storage on your device. We cannot see it.
Third-party services
There are none. Carnatic Music Tools contains no advertising SDK, no analytics SDK, and no crash-reporting SDK, and it sends no data to any third party.
Notifications
On Android, keeping the Metronome playing while the app is in the background requires an ongoing notification showing that it is running. It is used only to display and control playback, and it disappears when you stop the Metronome.
Children's Privacy
The app is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, including children under 13. No account is required and no personalised advertising is shown, because no advertising is shown at all.
Data Retention & Deletion
All settings are stored on-device only. To delete everything the app has saved, uninstall it from your device. On the website, clear the site data in your browser.
Data-protection laws give you rights to access, correct, and delete personal data held about you. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to retrieve or erase.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will always be available at this URL, with a new date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
